Preaching The Kingdom Of God

Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him, preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him.
Acts 28:30-31
Paul was a man with purpose. He knew who he was, what he was, and why he was here. He had one overarching goal and that was to preach Christ. As he said to the Corinthians, ‘For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.’ Thus, when he landed in Italy, he took every opportunity to preach Christ. He started with the Jews and when they refused to hear he turned to the Gentiles. As our text indicates he stayed for two years ‘in his own rented house, and received all who came to him.’ When they did, he spent the time with them, ‘preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ.’ Thus, he continued to make much of Christ. In the face of every other thing he could have been doing to free himself or promote some agenda, he chose rather to continue to proclaim Christ which was the very thing which had caused him to become a prisoner. Paul’s mission to preach Christ and Him crucified was much more important to him than any personal comfort or private agenda. He had this one purpose and everything else took a dim and distant second place. Paul stands as a good example for us. We follow him as he followed Christ. Christ is the message of the Scripture from beginning to end. Therefore, we also preach the kingdom of God and teach the things, which concern the Lord Jesus Christ.
Our Great and Gracious God,
we rejoice at the work You have given us to do.
We praise You the work centers upon
the Person and work of Christ.
