More Than Conquerors

More Than Conquerors

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Romans 8:37

Christ is triumphant. Because He is we are. Following Christ runs completely counter to the way in which most people think. We live our lives in the light of impending eternity. What happens to us here is not a reflection of where we shall be or what we shall be. We do not conquer kingdoms, add territories, and win fame. Ours is not the glory of the display of might, wealth, or prowess. In following Christ, we take the path He did. We seek the marginalized, the poor, and the lowly, and identify with them. We go about doing good and pointing others to Christ by life and lip. We are not rubbing shoulders with the great and the good by the world’s estimation. Thus, we may endure tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, or sword. We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. This is Christ’s path and thus has become ours. This is how He overcame sin, death, and hell. As He has conquered so we conquer. We suffer now and shall be glorified later. We serve now and will reign with Him in eternity. We are fools to the world that we might be wise to God. Christ is our Savior, our example, and our prize. He has loved us. We love Him in return and love those whom He loves. Thus, love does indeed conquer all. This is glory that no earthly conqueror can obtain.

Great God of Wonders,
we rejoice that Christ is exalted.
We praise You that He leads us to victory.
