Nothing And No One

Nothing And No One

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39

God has united us to Christ in an indissoluble union. His love is of such strength that nothing and no one can separate us from Him. Paul lists all the erstwhile separators. They are the big forces. Neither death nor life can separate us from the love of God. Angels, demons, and evil powers will all fail in their attempts. Nothing that ever has happened or will happen will affect our standing. Nothing as high or as low as it may be will have any effect. No other created being, no matter how powerful shall separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. This is what matters. Everything else is of lesser importance than where we stand with God. This relegates the vast majority of what most people think is important to a dim and distant second place. What really matters is what is important to God. If we are to know Him then we must view things from His perspective. What is important to Him is what becomes important to us. Therefore, this text offers us a blessed assurance. Regardless of what we may face by way of opposition in the world, we are Christ’s and Christ is ours. We are inseparable from Him. This is truth by which we can live.

Our Glorious, Living God,
we rejoice in the strength of Your love.
We praise You that it is so powerful
that no one else can diminish it.
