Righteousness And Justice

Righteousness And Justice

The Lord executes righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.

Psalm 103:06

Life is not easy, nor is it fair, but God is just. One of the difficulties we encounter in life is how to reconcile the justice of God with the prosperity of the wicked. These are the people who actively oppress others. We wonder that God permits them to treat others evilly when they have done them no wrong. It does not seem fair to us. Our text holds within it both a fact and an implicit promise. The fact is that God does execute righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. We have beheld Him doing so in history. We may have observed it in our own personal experience. We also read in Scripture of His executing righteousness. Christ had much to say about the last Judgment. John details the scenes of judgment as he concludes Revelation. There Christ appears to do judgment and justice. Only He can be the final Judge. He has ever been the defender of His people. Therefore, we trust Him to do all He has promised. Life may not seem fair. We may endure oppression from those who prosper in their iniquity. The day is coming when God will show Himself to be as good as His word. He will execute righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.

Our Holy and Righteous God,
We rejoice in Your faithful promises.
We praise you that You will fulfill every one of them.
