I Saw, I Said, I Heard

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.
Isaiah 6:1
Isaiah interacted with Christ. We are returning to the original text with which we began this series of devotionals. We are doing so because the passage shows us a progressive development of interaction between Christ and Isaiah. In our text, Isaiah says, ‘I saw Jehovah.’ Once he had beheld the exalted Christ, he remarked, ‘I said.’ What he said evidenced his conviction about himself. Christ came to his rescue and, Isaiah recorded, ‘I heard.’ His response to his cleansing and his call was, ‘Here am I! Send me.’ Thus, we behold a pattern of interaction between him and Christ. While this is rather graphic and seems quite out of the ordinary, we should not feel that we will never have such spiritual experiences. God does speak to us. He does show us Christ. We do interact with Him. We may not have the graphic experiences that Isaiah did but that does not mean our experience of Christ is any less real or life-changing. His Holy Spirit still takes the things of Christ and shows them to us. We still see Him, hear His voice, experience His cleansing, receive His call, and follow His direction. He still interacts with us and us with Him.
Glorious, Living God,
we rejoice that You condescend to us who are of low estate.
We praise You that You are willing to
interact with us consistently.
