The Time Of Singing

My beloved spoke, and said to me: Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.  For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. The fig tree puts forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grapes give a good smell. Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away!

Song of Solomon 2:10-13

Christ invites us to an environment of His Own creation. The Song of Solomon is a highly poetic book. It is graphic in its’ portrayals of Christ, His Bride, their relationship, and the milieu of their habitat. Christ created a garden for our first parents. In it was all manner of good things. Sin came into that environment. With that sin came a curse. That curse has affected us all. It has brought upon us a winter of blight, of wretchedness, and of death. As beautiful as the world is, it presently abides under a curse. Christ invites His people to a perfect environment. He is leading His Bride to a place of perfection to enjoy undisturbed communion with Him. Now is the winter of our endurance. He intends to create a new heaven and a new earth wherein righteousness dwells. We are in the cursed world now, but the perfect world is coming. His presence in the new world is what makes it our home. We can live with Him by His Spirit now, but there comes the day when the faith shall be sight. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

God of Grace and Glory,
we rejoice at all the things that You have created.
We praise You that You will make all things new.
