Saved By The LORD

Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD…
Deuteronomy 33:29a
Christ is the Savior of all who believe. Israel is the prototype for the redeemed. When we see spiritual remarks which refer to Israel we should understand that many of those remarks have a broader application to all the redeemed of all ages. This is particularly true of references to salvation. Our text speaks of Israel as ‘a people saved by the LORD.’ Moses uses Jehovah, the personal name of God. Jehovah is Israel’s Savior. Christ is Jehovah. Isaiah said he saw Jehovah, high and lifted up, in the temple. John confirms it was Christ Whom Isaiah saw. Therefore, He being Jehovah, is Israel’s Savior. The rest of the Scripture goes to great lengths to present Christ as the Savior of all who believe. When we see this text as it applies to Israel, we may legitimately consider that it applies to us as well. He is our Savior. We are happy that He is. The saving work of Christ does set us apart. We take no credit for our own salvation, nor do we count ourselves better than anyone else. We do appreciate the work which Christ has done. We are conscious His work has set us on a different path in this life and assures us a different destination in the next. This is His work, His grace, and His salvation. To God alone be the glory.
Our Glorious God and our Savior,
we rejoice in Your redemption.
We praise You that to You alone is the glory
for this great salvation.
