Hear Him

Hear Him

While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!

Matthew 17:5

God the Father wants us to hear Christ, His Son. In the narrative of the Transfiguration, He articulates it in so many words. Christ is the pivotal Person in human history, and His message is the key message. The cumulative testimony of all the prophets, the New Testament evangelists, and the Apostles is, ‘nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.’ As powerful a testimony as this is, it does not supersede Christ’s Own testimony, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’ This is the core message from the lips of Christ Himself which God the Father wants us to hear. It is what makes the difference between acceptance or rejection; between life and death; salvation and damnation; heaven and hell. Here is the definitive issue about which we can truly have no neutrality. Christ is the Continental Divide of all humanity and all history. Of all the messages in the world, set forth by the most earnest devotees of whatever cause, Christ’s message surpasses them. Therefore, ‘believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.’ This is God’s Beloved Son, in Whom He is well pleased. Hear Him.

Our Glorious, Living Christ,
we rejoice that You are our prophet, priest and king.
We praise You that as we hear You,
we learn what we need to know
for this life and for eternity.
