Heaven Opened

Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.
Revelation 19:11
John’s book is ‘the Revelation of Jesus Christ.’ As such, he reveals Christ in various scenarios which occur at the end of the world. One of the most striking scenes occurs in the passage surrounding our text. John says, ‘now I saw heaven opened.’ He sees the exalted, triumphant Christ Who is returning as He promised in such a way that ‘every eye will see Him.’ There is no reasonable purpose to consider John’s description in any other way than the plain sense in which we understand language, which includes metaphors and similes mixed together with very literal language. What is very apparent from the whole of the passage is that Christ’s return is with purpose and cataclysmic to His enemies. These events remove all controversy and conjecture about Who Christ was and is. They are the events which subdue all human governments and right the wrongs which humanity has perpetrated. It will be catastrophic to be on the opposing side against this, Kings of Kings and Lord of Lords. His day is coming.
Our Gracious Master and Our God,
we rejoice that Christ is King and Lord.
We praise You for the coming day,
when He shall reveal Himself to do judgement and justice.
