When Will Christ Return?

Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
Matthew 25:13
When will Christ return? Regardless of anything the naysayers purport, the Scripture is abundantly clear that Christ will return. Peter warned of the critics of the truth of Christ’s return when he quoted them as saying, ‘Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.’ In that passage, Peter asserts, ‘But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night.’ The clear indication is that there is no way to predict exactly when He will return. Matthew 25 corroborates this. Christ’s words were, ‘You know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.’ This should terminate all vain speculation. The parable which precedes our text, indicates the bridegroom’s appearance could be anticipated, but not predicted with any accuracy. This becomes important to us because of the flow of opinions from those who are dogmatically certain about the details of Christ’s return. The words He utters are the end of controversy. He said He will undoubtedly return. We believe Him and are also sure we cannot know the day or the hour.
Our Gracious God and our Savior,
we rejoice that Your Word is good.
We praise You that You will do all that You have promised,
in Your appointed time.
