His Presence, Our Preservation

His Presence, Our Preservation

His Presence, Our Preservation

Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you.

…For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Isaiah 46:4 & Hebrews 13:5b

As we continue our meditation upon Christ’s Preservation of His people, we come to consider the relation between the Presence of Christ and our preservation. It was the Presence of Christ which guaranteed the preservation of Israel at the Red Sea. The Presence of Christ preserved Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. The Presence of Christ preserved Daniel in the lion’s den. The Presence of Christ preserved the disciples on the stormy Sea of Galilee. These are only a few examples of the many we could set forth. The pattern appears clearly. It is the Presence of Christ which guarantees the preservation of His people. This is enormously encouraging for us. If we connect the text upon which we have been meditating for the past few days, with the text from Hebrews, we arrive at the conclusion that this is a New Testament promise with Old Testament foundations. This supports a unified view of Scripture. Christ is its’ Message from beginning to end. His Presence guarantees the preservation of His people from Genesis to Revelation and in every age reflected therein. Here is our high ground: “For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’”

O, Great God of Might,
we rejoice in Your Never Failing Strength.
We praise You that by Your Almighty Hand,
You uphold Your feeble, frail and failing people
and transform us into the Lions of God.
