An Answerable Question

An Answerable Question

An Answerable Question

…How long have I to live?

II Samuel 19:34

We have considered this important, sobering question. We want to consider it in another aspect. We want to be consciously aware that this is an answerable question. The answer to the question, ‘How long have I to live?’ is: not long. Psalm 90 declares that our years are perhaps seventy, or at best eighty, but that ‘it is soon cut off and we fly away.’ Therefore, time is of the essence. By all accounts, life is very uncertain. God may know the number of our days, but He has chosen not to tell us. Therefore, we should prepare for this inevitability now. ‘We’re going home to glory soon, to see the city bright; to walk the golden streets of heaven, and bask in God’s Own Light; but some of you are out of Christ, and held by many a snare; we cannot leave you lost and lone; we want you over there.’ As the ambassadors of Christ, we beseech you to embrace Christ as He freely offers Himself in the Gospel. No matter how long you think you have, it is not really that long.  ‘Behold, now is the accepted time, behold, now is the day of salvation.’ Avail yourself today of the Winsome, Waiting Savior.

Our Wonderful Living Christ,
we rejoice that Your Arms are as open as Your Heart.
We praise You that You have suffered the pangs of death,
to guarantee for us, eternal life.
