To Him Be Glory

Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
Ephesians 3:21
Our chief end is to glorify God. This is the purpose for which God created us. As Paul completes his doxology with which he concludes his prayer for the Ephesians, he expresses his desire that God the Father, should receive ‘glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever.’ Paul understood the concept of ‘whether therefore you eat or drink, or whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God.’ He wanted this to be a practical reality in his own life, in the lives of the Ephesians, and in the lives of all of the redeemed of all ages. We can have no higher motivation for ourselves or for those with whom God gives us opportunity to minister. We want all that we say and do to be to His glory. We want the experience of Christ we have, and which those around us have, to be for His glory. This elevates our every activity. This gives the most menial of tasks a larger purpose and greater value. We want God to receive the glory ‘in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.’ As we experience Christ in the ways in which Paul prayed for the Ephesians, we will participate in that which will be to the glory of God both now and forever.
Our Gracious Master and our God,
we rejoice that we exist to bring You glory.
We praise You, that by the power of Your Spirit,
You will work in us,
to bring You this glory together with all the saints of God.
