By Christ Jesus

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 

Philippians 4:19 

What we have from God, we have by Christ Jesus. This is a broad, sweeping statement. It has many ramifications. Did God choose us? He chose us in Christ, before the foundation of the world. Has God created the world in which we live? He did so by Christ, for without Him was not anything made that was made. Has God redeemed us?  He has done so by Christ, ‘Who of God is made to us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption.’ Will God make us holy? He will do so by His Spirit renewing us in the whole person after the image of Christ. All we have that connects us to God is ‘by Christ Jesus.’ Hence, we understand His statement, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’ Thus it is impossible for us to make too much of Christ. All our preaching, writing, thinking, and living must of necessity be related to Christ. Therefore, as we understand more of this connection we have with God ‘by Christ Jesus,’ the more we magnify Him. We have an abundance of need, but we have an abundant Christ. Because He is our Shepherd, we shall lack for nothing in time or in eternity. 

Our Wise and Holy God, 
we rejoice that You have brought us unto Yourself, by Christ. 
We praise You that all we have from You, 
is by Him.
